Colombia Huila San Agustin
Our Colombia Huila San Agustin Grainpro comes to us from a group of farmers called Proyecto San Agustin. The group consists of a selection of 35 producers on family-owned farms who live in the community of San Francisco within the municipality of Pitalito in the department of Huila, Colombia. Proyecto San Agustin was established in 2016 to focus on quality coffee production and to establish direct trade relationships. They work in collaboration with export company Lohas Beans to establish connections in the specialty coffee market and for access to technical support for best agricultural practices and innovative coffee processing methods. This has helped to improve coffee prices for Proyecto San Agustin and enables the farmers to reinvest in their farms and provide for their families.
The coffee is grown at 1750 meters in a sandy loam soil. The beans are fully washed and dried inside solar dryers that provide protection from the rain. A sweet and subtly fruity aroma with notes of toffee, stone fruit and a hint of nutmeg and cocoa. Creamy and smooth in the cup with medium body. Nuances of toffee and cocoa balanced by hints of peach, kiwi, lemon and lime.
