Colombia Huila Timana Castillo

Description

Our current Colombia Huila Timaná coffee is a community blend sourced from 4 producers with farms located in Timaná, Huila Department, Colombia.

Family owned farms are the backbone of Colombian coffee production. Farms in an area will band together to create a crop, then with the help of an export company, Banexport for these producers,  they can bring their coffees to a larger market. This model of collaboration between the farmers produces traceable community blends with vibrant regional profiles. Banexport assists the producers with post-harvest protocols to make more consistent blends from the separate farms.

Each producer has their own micro-mill on site where cherries are carefully harvested, depulped, fermented, washed, then gently dried inside solar dryers that protect from rainfall. The alliance with Banexport provides farmers with crucial logistical support for things like warehousing and milling coffee for export. They also facilitate access to technical support for best practices for farm management, help processing harvests and cupping feedback to help check and improve coffee quality. These types of assistance really help to increase income for everyone, allowing producers to reinvest in their farms and strengthen family livelihoods.

Pleasant aroma with notes of chocolate, stone fruits, and a hint of cinnamon. Velvety medium body. Nuances of milk chocolate, hot cocoa and marshmallows, with hints of apricot and plum. Delightful!
