Colombia Narino Pasto


Our Colombia Narino Pasto comes to us from the city of Pasto in the department of  Nariño, Colombia. This lot was produced by 20 small family owned farms that work in conjunction with Colombian export company Banexport.

Family owned farms are the backbone of Colombian coffee production. Farms in an area will band together to create a crop, then with the help of an export company they can get their coffees to a larger market. This model of collaboration between the farmers produces traceable community blends with vibrant regional profiles. Each producer designs their own farm management and post-harvest solutions to fit their needs and has their own micro-mill. At the individual mills cherries are carefully harvested, depulped, fermented, washed, then gently dried on raised beds or inside solar dryers that provide protection from rain. The alliance with Banexport provides farmers with crucial logistical support for things like warehousing and milling coffee for export to the international market. They also assist producers by giving them access to technical support for best practices for farm management, help processing harvests and cupping feedback to help check and improve coffee quality. These types of assistance really help to increase income for everyone, allowing producers to reinvest in their farms and strengthen family livelihoods.

Pleasing aroma with hints of cocoa, buttery toffee and sweet fruits. Balanced in the cup with notes of cocoa and milk chocolate, plum, apple and berry. Smooth, medium body.
