Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Bedhatu Jibicho

Our Ethiopia Yirgacheffe comes to us from producer Bedhatu Jibicho whose farm is located in Worka in the Gedeb District, Gedeo Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Region of Ethiopia. Bedhatu was born and raised in Worka and started working in coffee in the 1960s when the government gave land to her husband. She takes great pride in the fact that she has managed the farm operations for over 50 years. As she is now over 80 years old, her adult children have started to become more involved in continuing her rich tradition of coffee production. The family goal is to expand production and start their own export company.

This crop of Yirgacheffe was grown at 1,800 to 1,900 meters in vertisol type soil. For processing this coffee is fully washed and dried on raised beds. A powerful aroma with notes of lemon, berries, jasmine and cocoa. Focused in the cup with rich complexity and a syrupy body. Nuances of lemon, ginger, jasmine and melon with an herbal, chocolate finish.
