Jamaica Blue Mountain Clydesdale Estate

Description

Our Jamaica Blue Mountain Clydesdale Estate Grade 1 30kg barrels are sourced from family-owned farms located in the Saint Andrew Parish nestled in the Grand Ridge of the Blue Mountains, Jamaica. As the reputation of Blue Mountain Coffee was so renowned, Jamaica was the first country to establish a defined geographical location for a specific coffee type. Coffee produced in the Jamaican Blue Mountains has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).

The original Clydesdale Estate Factory (about two hundred years old!) is no longer in operation but it and other original pieces of equipment still stand and are now a National Heritage site. Clydesdale Estate has always carried a high passion and commitment to producing the highest quality coffee. The welfare of farmers under the label and care of the environment is of the same importance. The current Clydesdale wet-mill is the most modern in Jamaica with technology to recycle and treat water before returning it to the environment. Coffee trees are inter-cropped with banana, inga, mango and many other shade trees. The dry mill is located in Kingston and employs over 600 women to hand sort coffee. In addition to the social impact from stable employment, funds are also invested in projects to support over 30 schools in the region.

Sweet, chocolately aroma. Exceptionally smooth and creamy body. Lush nuances of bakers chocolate, butterscotch and cane sugar and subtle, sweet apple and candied lemon.

If you would like to try a quarter or half-pound of this coffee instead of a full pound, please add a note in the “Order Notes” section on the checkout page.
