Mexico FTO Chiapas Grapos
This Mexico FTO Chiapas GRAPOS Altura comes to us from family owned farms organized around the Grupo de Asesores de Producción Orgánica y Sustentables (GRAPOS) in the Chiapas region of Mexico. Founded in 2007, GRAPOS is a farmers group near the town of Tapachula. They also operate in the towns of Unión Juárez and Cacahoatan, all located in the Chiapas state. GRAPOS provides multiple services essential to their farm members. There are programs for finance, technical assistance, and farm development (e.g. building nurseries and other farm renovations) and community development (e.g. women’s knitting program and mushroom cultivation for income diversification).
Coffee trees in the Chiapas state grow at 1,200 to 1,500 meters above sea level in clay mineral soil. This crop was fully washed and dried in the sun. Certified Organic. Certified Fair Trade.
Soft and sweet. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, cream, and a very subtle fruitiness. It’s like Neapolitan ice cream in the cup with nuances of chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of strawberry. Smooth, creamy, light body.
