Mexico Oaxaca Pluma Finca La Cabaña
Our current crop of Mexican coffee is sourced from Finca La Cabaña located in the municipality of Pluma Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Mexico. Alberto Pérez Mariscal and his family own and operate the farm. Alberto is a third generation coffee farmer continuing the family legacy started by his grandfather.
Finca la Cabaña is a 350 hectare (about 865 acres) multiple crop farm. Only 150 hectares (370 acres) is dedicated to coffee cultivation. Alberto also cultivates orchids for the production of vanilla. Growing multiple crops has created a responsible environmental balance for sustainable organic farming. While they do cultivate organically the farm does not have USDA organic certification.
Coffee trees at Finca la Cabaña are grown at 1,200 to 1,350 meters in a clay mineral soil type. Cherries are processed fully washed and then dried in the sun. Pleasant, creamy and sweet. An aroma full of chocolate notes with subtle hints of raspberry and peach. Soft body in the cup with sweet and rich notes of chocolate and subtle nuances of berry, stone fruit, orange zest and a touch of caramel.
