Comin’ At 2026 Freshly Roasted

A happy new year’s greeting to one and all! We’re back for the year after a much-needed break and ready to roast up some delicious batches of coffee.

Now the year’s date may have changed, but here within the walls of Kaffeeklatsch life goes on much as it ever has. (Yes Bilbo said it first about the Shire but he’s right, regardless) We roast fresh coffee, we measure out loose leaf tea, and we organize fun coffee and tea accessories on the shelves so they can entice you into taking them home with you. Whether you feed any of them after midnight is your own business, but no refunds on “oops turns out it was a gremlin filter” mishaps.

Now let’s get into the main reasons you came to this page!

Coffee Of The Month: Peru APROCASSI – Pleasing sweet aroma with hints of cocoa, caramel, amd cinnamon. Velvety medium body with a soft richness. Nuances of milk chocolate and molasses along with soft hints of apple and citrus. Certified Organic

Tea Of The Month: Winter Punch – Plum and cinnamon help to create a fragrant, warm blend for the winter months.

Things To Note: January birthdays sneak up on you, and it can be hard to remember them until you get the calendar reminder about the party…tomorrow?! So why not add in a quick gift grab while you’re here restocking your depleting coffee/tea reserves? We have little fun trinkets of all kinds, including handmade mugs from local artisans and even baby items for those new December/January arrivals and first birthdays.

While we start up our Ye Olde Roaster and begin crankin’ out roasts, please keep in mind we ma not have gotten to certain varietals yet. Each one has its own temperature and time for a perfect batch, and we have that roast list nearly as long as Santa’s come the beginning of the year. If we don’t have your roast done and ready, we can also do an ‘in store pick-up’ or ‘ship-when-ready’ order for you. We’ll get you reunited with your beloved beans, never fear! All our current hours and phone rules (such as off-the-hook Saturdays) are still the same. Any holiday closures will be announced both here and as physical signs in the store & on our door to give as much of a heads’ up as possible.

Keep an eye out for our 50th anniversary, coming later this year! Can you believe it?? Crazy that 1976 was 50 years ago… now we feel old, oh no (haha)

Twas The Night Before Coffee…

“…when all through the house, every creature was stirring…from caffeine withdrawal.” That’s how the famous poem goes, right? No? That’s how ours goes! To make sure you and yours don’t suffer that dastardly fate, make sure your shadow falls upon our doorstep before the end of the year! Or ask Santa to grab an extra bag of Yuletide Cheer for you, but be warned – he’ll charge you double the amount of cookies in return!
Whether or not you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Omisoka, Christmas, or any holiday this month, we want you to know that we appreciate you. We are so thankful for getting to be here, to roast lovely coffee for you, suggest teas or brewing fun, or just to chat with you. You are why we’re able to be here to look forward to our 50th year in business next year, and we never forget that. So from the bottom of our freshly roasted hearts, thank you.

Now enough of the sappy stuff, and on to the fun!

Remember remember your coffee this November

Do you feel that? That crisp autumnal chill? IT’S HERE! THE END OF THE HEAT! We may be just a -tad- excited, but when you cohabitate a room with a beautiful but incredibly hot coffee roaster you tend to feel an extra thrill when the heat drops below 75℉ outside. The trees are exploding into riotous colors, enticing us to take to the streets to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of roasted coffee wonderful fall before December rears its icy head.

Before we run too amuck with our feelings about this, let’s dive into what you’ll need to get the most out of this November.

Coffee of the Month: Ethiopia Harrar 4 Natural Nafisifie
Lovely aroma with hints of earthy dark chocolate, plum, and baking spices. Full, creamy body. Rich and complex in the cup with notes of plum, fig, red wine, and dark chocolate. “Natural”/Dry Process

Tea of the Month: Ginger Orange Tisane
A flavorful blend of fruits and herbs with orange peel, ginger, apple bits, hibiscus blossoms, rose hip husks, and lemongrass. Delicious hot or cold.
Certified Organic
Recommendations: Use 1 heaping tsp. (or 2-3 grams) of tea per 6 oz. of water; heat fresh water to a rolling boil; steep for 5-10 minutes.

This is a bit of a shorter post, but much more dense. Like a fruitcake! A cranberry-laden… Thanksgiving…fruitcake?? Sure, that’s probably a thing somewhere!

Limited Holiday Menu and Off-Menu

It’s officially holiday season, and that means it’s about to get CRAZY within the scented walls of Kaffeeklatsch. As long-time customers will know, we create a smaller holiday menu of what’s available and how to get it in time for whatever shenanigans you’ve got going on. So here they are, the lists of coffees. What’s the difference? The ‘Limited Holiday Menu’ is everything that can be purchased at the regular pound amounts, 1/2lb to 3/4lb to full, etc. Everything else (insert ominous piano noises here) will have a Minimum Quantity required, as well as an Order Ahead requirement. What does that mean? Simply put, anything on the ‘Off-Menu’ list below now has to be ordered no later than one week (the full 7, people, like The Ring) in advance and starting at no less than 5 pounds. So if you need 10 lbs of coffee next Thursday and today is Tuesday, we best be hearing from you either today or tomorrow!
We know that can be frustrating, trying to plan things out and gauge how much you’ll need, but trust us when we say this is less stressful than turning around and realizing you need those 10 lbs tomorrow. Set an alert in your calendar or stick a note to the fridge, whatever helps you keep those 1,000 holiday thoughts from disappearing and reappearing like haunted dryer socks.

October: Take it or leaf it

One of these days -hopefully during this month- those darn leaves will start changing, and when it cools down it’ll stay that way! Pumpkin patches will open, hayrides will blow hay dust in your face and eyes, corn mazes will crop up (aaahaha ‘crop’, get it?) out of nowhere and you’ll get the urge to find a haunted house or five. Until then, take heart in the fact that our coffee is delicious, whether hot or iced.

Coffee of the Month: Columbia Huila Women’s Coffee
Great aroma with notes of cocoa, dark cherry, and baking spices. Solid medium body in the cup, notes of rich dark chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts are balanced by hints of apple and peach.
Our new Colombia Huila Women’s Coffee is produced by a group of 53 women organized around the Asociación De Productoras Agricultores Agrícolas De Timana (ASPROTIMANA), with farms around Timaná in the department of Huila, Colombia. ASPROTIMANA has been working directly with women producers to establish coffee production from farms owned and managed by women. With the support of Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA), this group of women have established their skills to process specialty coffee using their own micro-mills.

Tea of the Month: Green Silk Maofeng
Luscious green maofeng with notes of sweet lemon, honeydew melon, and cucumber with a floral finish.
In traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, practitioners have used green tea as a stimulant, diuretic, digestion aid and astringent. Studies show that green tea has the ability to regulate blood glucose, enhance mental performance, reduce inflammation, improve bone mineral density and lower risk of heart disease. It is a rich source of the polyphenol EGCG, shown to provide protection against cancer, particularly colon, lung and skin cancers.

A Seasonal PSA
As we get closer and closer to the collection of holidays that make up the fall and winter season, we do want to take this time to touch on a couple things that hopefully will ensure no one goes without their coffee over the various breaks, travel, etc.

Ordering Ahead Of Time
We’ve all been there, you wake up and shuffle blearily over to your coffee creation station only to see the worst sight ever: an empty container where your coffee should be. SHOCK. DISMAY. HORROR.
No one knows more than you do how quickly you go through your coffee. Gift ‘Future You’ the greatest thing ever and order your restock at least 3-4 days before you are going to run out. Whether you set it for pickup or delivery, ‘Future You’ will shed a single shining tear of gratitude that fateful morning as they reach for the container, heart ready to drop and instead lifted with appreciation. “Thanks, Past Me. You remembered.”

“Are You Gonna Be Open -insert time frame here-?”
We try to stay open as long as possible to give everyone time to come get their coffee, tea, and restock accessories before a holiday closure. We will have signs posted at least the entire week before a closure, if not a little longer, to let folks know exactly when and for how long we will be closed. These signs can be found on the front store and at the register, and the longer closure of post-Christmas through the new year can also be found on the main page of our website.

Higher Quantities and Larger Orders:
The sooner, the better. No really, that’s the whole thing. The closer we get to the holidays, the larger orders tend to get as people plan on gifting pounds of coffee to various loved ones and/or coworkers, employees, that one neighbor down the street that keeps letting you know when your dog escaped your yard. (Thanks, Mike!) We love this! Gift us everywhere and to everyone, hide samplers under seats and in jacket hoods, but just remember: If you know you’re going to need 10 lbs of Golden Pecan, 6 lbs of Chocolate Almond and 14 Herbal Tea Samplers by December 10th, please order well ahead of December 9th. We’re talking somewhere around Thanksgiving or so, you know? The sooner you can let us know and get that order down on paper, the happier everyone is gonna be. Especially the pecans, they love a good party.

Multi-Season September

How has everyone been enjoying these blissful moments of Southern False Fall? One week there is a delicious crisp to the morning air, the next a balmy soft wind wafts through warmer days. Autumn is wonderfully inevitable, but we like to think of this mercurial weather as a way to test out all our varieties of coffee in a myriad of different options. A smorgasbord of caffeine, if you will. Today a velvety cold brew, tomorrow a steamy cortado. There’s always a fun new flavor profile on the horizon, and the limit does not exist!

Coffee of the Month: Brazil Alta Mogiana
Sweet aroma with notes of chocolate cake, caramel, and almond. Soft, smooth body. In the cup, notes of milk chocolate, toffee, and almond, along with subtle hints of sweet fruit. “Natural”/Dry Process

Tea of the Month: Malty Assam
Our Malty Assam is only the highest grade, SFTGFOP (Super Fine Tippy Gold Flowery Orange Pekoe) Assam tea. It is full-bodied, hearty, and bright with a pronounced malty flavor and lots of tannins. This Assam has a dark, rich liquor with a full, yet clean finish.

What We’re Loving: Carter Move Travel Mug by Fellow
As the weather cools down, plans tend to ramp up and start early to beat the residual afternoon heat. Taking your delicious coffee with you isn’t a want, it’s a need, and this insulated travel mug is the perfect choice for doing so. Slim enough to fit most cup holders and a splash guard to keep you from those accidental splashes to the face -and clothes-, we find it hard to find a better option. We carry a variety of colors, so come see which one fits your vibe best and get ready for caffeine all day!
From Fellow itself: “A travel mug finally worthy of the coffee inside. Designed to amplify the senses and engineered to fit your travel needs with a snap-in splash guard and slim width, you can now enjoy coffee at its fullest on-the-go.”
